Hi, and welcome to my first ever blog post for Peps & Pooks!
The site has been live for just over a month now, so I thought it was about time I shared a little more about myself and my company. Plus, I made a New Years resolution to myself to write a post a month MINIMUM, so I really need to get cracking!
So, here goes…
First up, “What on earth is a “Peps”? Or a “Pooks” for that matter?!” I hear you ask. Great question, and one that I get asked pretty much every time I mention the name of my company. Basically they are the nicknames myself and my sister-in-law gave our babies while we were pregnant.
“Peps” being short for Peppercorn…Once we found out we were having a baby, my husband and I spent a couple of weeks referring to the tiny bean as whatever my pregnancy app said it was the same size as, and when we got to Peppercorn it just kind of stuck…for the whole 9 months and still now even though she’s nearly 18 months old! “Pooks” being short for Pookie, although I have no idea what my brother and sister-in-law were thinking when they came up with that one! 😉
Up until 18 months ago I had spent my career working in various Digital Marketing roles in Yorkshire and Surrey, which I have always enjoyed, but I’ve also always daydreamed about what it would be like to be my own boss rather than work for “The Man”. Being on maternity leave really turned the daydream into a potential option as I started to properly consider the work/life balance I want for the family whilst my daughter is young…but being a procrastinating and indecisive Libra, it took me until almost the end of my maternity leave to “take the plunge”, hand my notice in and go it alone! The last 5 months have been a bit of a whirlwind of building the website, sourcing products and learning new things about running your own business on an almost daily basis, and now that the site is live the real fun can start…
My vision for Peps & Pooks is that it becomes a home for great quality, well designed clothes for babies and toddlers. A place where mamas, papas, parents to be, grandparents and friends can shop for the little people in their lives to find unique and wearable clothes created by small brands taking pride in the items they produce.
I’m really interested to hear any thoughts you may have on the site, so if have any feedback or questions please get in touch. You can either leave a comment in the box below or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Thanks for reading!
